Happy New Year

As we embark on a new year, I wanted to take a moment to share some reflections and insights with our wonderful parents and community. The start of a new year is always a time for reflection and setting new goals, and I am excited to share what this means for me as the Headteacher of The Villa Pre-Prep.

Reflecting on the past year, I am incredibly proud of the progress our children have made. When we, as teachers, give them the space to explore, develop their growth mindset, and truly listen to what each child has to say, we witness remarkable growth. The children have developed friendships, navigated conflicts by genuinely listening to one another, and blossomed in ways that are truly inspiring.

This week, as the new term began, I loved seeing the children's faces light up and hearing about their adventures, both in Peckham and from those who travelled further afield. We had an assembly about new beginnings this morning, and the insights the children shared about their goals for the year were incredibly insightful for such young minds. One child wants to be less picky with food, which is always a constant battle at mealtimes. Another aims to win the running race at sports day and will strive to achieve that come the summer term. A third is excited to try more adventures with their family.

Children offer such a breath of fresh air when we adults are reflecting or looking forward. They have helped me to reflect on my own goals for 2025. I want to ensure that The Villa continues to build a strong community, develop educational skills both personally and among the staff, and most importantly, continue to enjoy the job that I am fortunate enough to have in 2025 and beyond.

I wish you all a prosperous and happy new year.
